TROYBOY FOUNDATION

TROYBOY FOUNDATION is a charitable 501(c)3 non-profit organization purposed to let young people between the age 9-18 know they are B.O.R.N. TO WIN. B.O.R.N. TO WIN means being an overcomer by resisting negativity. By combining personal experience and education we are empowering young people to work through emotional issues while discovering and developing their gifts through mentorship and performing arts. We believe as youth develop the skills of working through emotional issues, and discovering and developing their gifts their lives become more fulfilling, fun and focused.

We are committed to helping young people establish their identities and enhance personal perspectives through role play (performance), Q&A, and educational activities. Among other things, we provide young people with powerful decision making skills by teaching them to Dream Bigger, Balance Their Checkbooks, Be The Bigger Person and Write Business Plans. We believe gift discovery encourages young people and young adults to dream while gift development increases opportunities to accomplish that dream.

  • PROJECT LONDON: From Compton To London

In August 2008, 46 students from Compton, California will make history!  Led by TROYBOY FOUNDATION and the A.V.I.D. teachers of Dominguez High School, these teenage pioneers will embark upon an educational tour through Europe.  These students live in a city recently ranked by Morgan Quito Press among the top 25 "Most Dangerous" cities in our nation.  In some instances, these students are safer boarding a plane to a foreign country than they are walking home from school.  TROYBOY FOUNDATION through the mentorship program  has worked with the AVID program for 2 years.  AVID is an in-school academic support program that prepares middle-performance students for collage eligibility and success.  When these students began AVID many lacked the guidance and academic skills conducive to continuing on to higher education.  In spite of the callenge of their environment and economic hardship, these students press boldly toward a brighter future.  Many of whom will be the first in their families to graduate from a 4-year university.

EF Educational Tours, the leader in educational travel for the past four decades will be hosting our visit to London, Paris, and Madrid.  During our 10-day educational excursion, our students will taste what the world has to offer.  We are excited that our students will experience first-hand the art, history, culture, people and places they can only study about in school.  Some of the benefits of student travel include: student exposure to other cultures and universities, improved academic performance while earning high school credit, enhanced college applications and resumes, and student's worlds are opened to new  perspectives that reach far beyound their city limits.

Your financial support will help show that dreams do come true in Comptom!  The cost for each student's trip is $2800.00.  KNow that our students are NOW laboring with hopeful hearts to raise their own monies.  Our success could pave the way for other inner-city youth to believe and achieve similiar dreams that once seemed unreachable in our communities.  If you have any further questions or would like to sponsor a student, please contact Teresa Campbell at 310-433-1895 or Julee Guerrero at 310-920-0581.  You can also email us at troyboy@troyboyinternational.com

Led by teachers and parents, over a dozen students from Dominguez High School meet with the Mayor of Compton and Council Members at the City Council Meeting.  Although, the City of Compton could not provide any financial support there were several individuals present who were supportive of our cause.  The Mayor offered words of encouragement and wisdom to the youth, while our students had a forum with the Mayor to express what they would like to see happen in Compton.

Mayor Eric J. Perrodin  says this of Project London, “…we would love to see that because…Compton has a negative reputation.  People know Compton for the wrong reasons; crime, gangster rap…by you guys going to a place like [Europe], you guys are ambassadors saying, ‘Compton is not like that and you have a misrepresentation of Compton.’”

AVID students and teachers host a Valentine’s Spaghetti Dinner at Dominguez High School.  The event was wonderfully decorated from wall ornaments to unique table spreads.  Evening dinner candles slightly illuminated the faces of all in attendance while guests enjoyed a film and restaurant style service with student waiters and waitresses.  It was a moment to remember shared by staff, family, friends, and significant others.
